Guidelines for the Submission of the Manuscript

About the Journal

Formerly known as the Nepalese Journal of Educational Studies up to its third volume, Interdisciplinary Research in Education (IRE) is a peer-reviewed journal. It is entirely research-based and published by the Research Management Cell within the Central Department of Education at Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur, Kathmandu, Nepal. It serves as a platform for scholarly exchange in interdisciplinary educational research. IRE publishes original research articles from researchers globally, including meta-analyses and systematic reviews that synthesize and advance knowledge in the field.

Preferred Focus Areas

The journal gives priority to original contributions in the following areas:

• Interdisciplinary educational research
• Education-focused studies related to Nepal
• Pedagogical approaches, content-based research, and applied methodology
• Applied aspects of education

All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process.

Types of Submissions

The journal welcomes the following types of submissions:

• Original research articles
• Reviewed papers
• Practical experiences
• Book reviews

All submissions are subject to the discretion of the editorial board. Articles should be between 4,000 to 7,000 words, except for practical experiences and book reviews.

Main Manuscript Structure

Each manuscript should include the following components:

• Title
• Abstract
• Keywords
• Introduction
• Literature Review
• Methods and Procedures (Population, sampling design, sample type and size, statistical tools and data analysis procedures, software used, limitations, and ethical declarations)
• Results/Findings and Discussion
• Conclusions and Implications
• Notes (if any)
• References (in APA 7th Edition format)

Submission Requirements

• Articles must be unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere in any language.
• No publication charges are levied on authors. All publication costs are covered by the Central Department of Education, Tribhuvan University, Nepal.
• Manuscripts should be typewritten, double-spaced, with wide margins on A4-sized paper, and submitted in MS Word format (without security restrictions).
• All tables, figures, maps, illustrations, and annexes must be clearly captioned and numbered sequentially.
• APA 7th edition referencing style must be used for in-text citations and reference lists.
• The full details of all cited works must be included in the reference section at the end of the manuscript.

Privacy Statement

The names and email addresses entered into the journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of the journal and will not be shared with third parties.

Online Submission Guidelines

IRE accepts only online submissions via https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/ire

For online submission of manuscript, follow the procedures below:

1. Register as an author, reader, and reviewer.
2. Log in using your username and password.
3. Start a new submission.
4. Select the appropriate section (Editorial Notes / Articles / Reviews).
5. Complete the Submission Checklist and Copyright Notice.
6. Add comments or suggestions to the editor (if any).
7. Upload your manuscript file (editable Word format only).
8. During upload, select the correct file type under "Edit".
9. Continue to enter metadata and upload any supplementary files.
10. Click Finish Submission. You will receive a confirmation email.

Peer Review Policy

IRE follows the Double-Blind Review Process. All articles received will be desk-reviewed initially. The Editor-in-Chief screens all manuscripts for plagiarism and AI usage using software tools like Plagiarism Checker X and iThenticate.

The review process typically takes around two months, and authors are informed about the status of their papers.
