Abstract

Background: This study aims to measure the direct association of corporate social responsibility (CSR) dimensions and corporate social responsibility culture (CSR culture) on employees' performance, and the mediating role of CSR culture in the relationship between CSR dimensions and employee performance in the context of Nepalese commercial banks.

Methods: This study employed quantitative research methods and an explanatory research design. The sample was 384 employees working in commercial banks. Confirmatory factor analysis was employed to validate the measures used in this study. Structural equation modeling was used to estimate the association of the stated relationship.

Results: The current study revealed that there was a significant association of CSR dimensions (i.e., discretionary CSR, ethical CSR, legal CSR, and economic CSR) with employees' performance.

Conclusion: CSR culture mediated the relationship between CSR dimensions and employee performance. The study has highlighted a number of practical and theoretical implications.

Novelty: This study uniquely breaks down CSR culture's mediation role between CSR dimensions and experimentally analyzes its influence on Nepalese bank employees’ performance. A comprehensive approach shows full discretionary CSR mediation and partial mediation of other criteria.
