Conflict of interests and disclosures
Financial disclosures
In accordance to the journal’s commitment towards publishing research of the highest reliability and quality, the authors have to ensure that the research being submitted are free from any sort of outside influence, financial and otherwise. The authors have the responsibility to
- List all study sponsorships
- Submit the disclosures alongside the manuscript that is filled by all authors
For review articles, the journal expects that the authors of the particular review have no significant financial interests in any biomedical company relevant to the topic or products being reviewed. They must also submit a separate disclosure form stating the same. In case there are financial relations that are disclosed, the Journal has the right to decide if such disclosures are relevant to the subject and if they effect the content of the review. This decision may affect whether or not to publish such review. This right will reside with the editor in chief of JNSCCM.
Clinical Trials Registration
JNSCCM encourages authors to register trials and systematic reviews in acceptable registries before the onset of the patient enrollment beings.
Data sharing
As per the ICMJE, JNSCCM requires investigators to submit a data-sharing statement and register a data-sharing plan when registering a trial.
Preprint posting
JNSCCM accepts submission of manuscripts which have been posted as preprints on non-profit preprint server. However, this has to be disclosed at the time of manuscript submission to the journal.
Use of generative AI
With increasing development in Artificial Intelligence, we are bound to be affected by it in the field of medical research. However, at the present time, we have adopted the polices as specified by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) on the use of AI on medical research submitted to JNSCCM
- Authors must disclose at submission of the manuscript whether AI-assisted technologies (such as large language models, chatbots, or image creators) were used to produce the submitted work. If so, a description should be included in both the cover letter and the manuscript.
- A checklist on what to report on the use of AI is available which should also be included along with the submission file. A format of the checklist is available in the Journal site.
- As of now, chatbots or other AI-assisted technologies cannot be listed as authors. The authors will be responsible for the accuracy, integrity, originality and the intellectual content of the manuscript.
- Authors should carefully review and edit all materials produced through the use of AI, to prevent the submission of incorrect, incomplete, or biased information. The authors will be held fully responsible for all the information provided in the manuscript.
- Authors should be able to assert that there is no plagiarism of text or images in materials produced by AI. There will be an AI check during the initial screening of the manuscript. AI generated content that is not disclosed during the submission may lead to rejection, removal or retraction of the work.
- Authors must ensure that all quoted material is properly attributed, including full citations.
- Citation of AI-generated material as a primary source is not acceptable.
