Abstract

Foreign bodies (FB) in the nasopharynx is a rare occurrence. It is especially rare following inhalation or ingestion. Retained nasopharyngeal foreign bodies may provoke upper respiratory tract symptoms. Here, we describe a case of a 30-year-old female who presented with upper respiratory tract symptoms for one month secondary to a clove lodged in the nasopharynx following ingestion. Flexible nasopharyngolaryngoscopy (NPL) identified the foreign body, which was successfully removed. The patient experienced complete resolution of symptoms following removal. This case highlights the importance of considering nasopharyngeal foreign bodies in patients with persistent upper respiratory tract symptoms that do not respond to standard medical treatment.
