Keywords:
Media, Mental health, SuicideAbstract
Suicide remains one of the most pressing public health challenges worldwide, claiming more than 700,000 lives annually and leaving countless families and communities profoundly affected. Beyond its devastating human cost, suicide is shaped by a complex interplay of biological, psychological, social, cultural, and environmental factors. Among these influences, the media occupies a uniquely powerful position. Whether through traditional journalism, cinema, television, or the rapidly expanding ecosystem of social media, media has the capacity to either contribute to suicide prevention or inadvertently increase suicide risk. As media consumption continues to grow globally, responsible communication has become an essential component of suicide prevention strategies.
