About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Himalayan Geographers publishes original articles from authors of different disciplines whose work should be associated with spatial context, mountain environment, resource development, human welfare and sustainable development. Its aims are: to contribute to knowledge on the related fields; to disseminate information and ideas that may help to encourage researchers and higher level students for academic activities; to aid decision making related to the Himalayan region; and to solve problems, stimulating the exchange of experience amongst all sectors of the society who works and associated in the academic and decision makings.

Call for Papers

The Himalayan Geographers calls for research articles that comply with the aims and scope of the journal for its upcoming issues. The submissions are welcomed from across the globe. The journal is an open access peer reviewed journal that mainly publishes the research from the field of spatial context, mountain environment, resource development, human welfare and sustainable development. We accept submissions round the year. The manuscripts submitted before October every year, will be considered for publication in the same year, while the manuscripts submitted after October will be considered for publication for its future issue.

Open Access Policy

The Himalayan Geographers provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Articles in the journal are published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International Licence. This license enables reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format for noncommercial purposes only, and only so long as attribution is given to the creator.

Peer Review Process

The Himalayan Geographers is a double blind peer-reviewed journal. The review criteria for the acceptance of the article are whether the paper is a unique and useful contribution to the relevant national and international debate which is effectively communicates ideas and concept.

The manuscript that adheres with the technical requirements will then be assigned to the Executive Editor. The editorial board will make the ultimate judgment on the article based on the suggestions of the reviewers and the Executive Editor. At this point, the work may be rejected, subjected to either significant or small revision, or accepted in its existing form. The choice will be solely dependent on the replies of the reviewer and the Chief Editor.

All drafts, together with comments and suggestions from peer reviewers, will be returned to the authors for modification. The authors are asked to submit updated papers within a week of receiving feedback. The editorial board reserves the right to modify, accept, or reject the article.
