Abstract

Environmental pollution is a global menace and Nepal is by no means an exception to it. It is steadily growing and adversely affecting every life in the country. The reason for the increase in environmental pollution is in generally attributed to the development endeavour of nations, but in particular their increasing industrial activities are considered major source. This paper particularly deals with comprehending, describing and analyzing the environmental pollution created by sugar mills in Nepal and also probes into its management i.e. adequacy or inadequacy and effectiveness or ineffectiveness of the measures taken so far to control and mitigate its undesirable effects. Management in general has largely been insensitive and not proactive to resolve this hazardous issue. Hence, for effective management of environmental pollution in Nepalese sugar industry some appropriate measures have been suggested to improve the situation.
