Characteristics of Fast Growth and Highly Successful Business – Problems in Approaches and Methods of Analysing the Data

Abstract

This paper focuses the problems in analyzing simultaneous growth and success of a firm. The refinement process of data will be explained in the course of several studies. The refined data consists of 348 growing firms where from 75 were fast growing and highly successful. We used regression, logistic regression and discrimination analysis in analyzing the data. Regression analysis reveals that growth and success are not surrogates. Cross-validated logistic regression and discriminant analysis classify well the cases in different categories. The robust analysis presupposes careful refinement of data, accurate model specification, and competent interpretation of the results.
