About the Journal

Focus and Scope

NCE Journal of Science and Engineering (NJSE) publishes peer-reviewed original research in engineering, science and related applied technologies. The journal serves researchers, faculty members, engineers, practitioners and students interested in advancing knowledge and developing practical solutions to scientific and engineering problems.

The scope is multidisciplinary and reflects the academic and research activities of engineering and applied-science communities. Areas represented in the journal include civil and environmental engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, computer and information engineering, artificial intelligence and machine learning, communication and networking, renewable and energy systems, robotics and automation, materials and manufacturing, water resources, and other emerging engineering and applied-science fields.

NJSE primarily seeks original research articles presenting clearly defined problems, appropriate methods, results, discussion and conclusions. Submissions should demonstrate academic rigor, methodological soundness and relevance to the journal's readership. The journal particularly welcomes interdisciplinary and application-oriented research that contributes to scientific understanding, engineering practice, innovation and the development of contextually relevant solutions.

Publication Frequency

NJSE is published once bi-annually, with the regular publication.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. There is no embargo on the journal’s publications.

Submission and acceptance dates, along with publication dates, should be made available in the PDF format for each paper.

Journal History

The NCE Journal of Science and Engineering was established with Volume I, Issue I, published in 2020. The journal subsequently published Volume II in 2025, including the June 2025 issue. The 2025 volume represents the continuation of NJSE as a peer-reviewed publication of National College of Engineering.

Journal Ownership

Ownership of the journal title and all associated branding and intellectual property is held by the National College of Engineering (NCE), affiliated to Tribhuvan University, Nepal.

Peer Review Process

All submissions are initially assessed by the Editor-in-Chief or an assigned editor for suitability and basic compliance with the journal's scope and submission requirements. Manuscripts considered suitable are sent to at least two subject experts for anonymous peer review. Reviewers assess the manuscript for originality, clarity, methodological soundness, validity of results, quality of presentation and relevance to the journal.

The journal uses an anonymous reviewer/anonymous author (double-anonymous) peer-review process. Reviewers are expected to provide constructive and confidential feedback. Based on the reviewer reports, the editor may recommend rejection, major revision and re-review, minor revision, or acceptance. Final editorial responsibility rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

Editorial team members may submit manuscripts to the journal. When an editor or editorial board member is an author, that person must not participate in the editorial decision or peer-review process for the submitted manuscript, and another editor will be assigned to manage the manuscript.

Default review time is 4-6 weeks.

Reviewer Guidelines

Reviewers should evaluate submissions with attention to:

  • originality and relevance to the journal;
  • structure, clarity and quality of argument;
  • appropriateness and rigor of methods;
  • validity and interpretation of results;
  • conclusions and contribution to knowledge;
  • quality of figures and tables;
  • depth and accuracy of referencing;
  • language and presentation;
  • ethical considerations and approvals, where applicable; and
  • availability and transparency of research data, where applicable.

Reviews should be objective, constructive, respectful and confidential. Reviewers should disclose any competing interest and should not use or share confidential manuscript information. Reviewers should not use public AI systems such as ChatGPT to process confidential manuscript content. If any permitted local AI tool is used, the reviewer remains fully responsible for the review and should disclose its use to the editor.

AI Policy

NJSE follows responsible research and publication practices concerning the use of artificial intelligence. Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity and proper attribution of all submitted content. Any use of AI tools in preparing a manuscript should comply with the journal's editorial requirements and applicable research-integrity standards. AI tools must not be used to fabricate data, results, references or other research content. AI detection tool will be used.

Authorship

All listed authors must qualify as authors according to their substantive contribution to the work. All authors must have approved the submitted manuscript and agreed to be listed as authors. Changes in authorship after submission require the consent of all affected authors and approval by the Editor-in-Chief.

ORCID

The journal strongly recommends that all authors register for an ORCID iD. Corresponding authors are encouraged to include their ORCID iD during submission, and co-authors are also encouraged to provide theirs. ORCID identifiers help ensure accurate attribution and improve discoverability of published work.

Reproducibility

Authors are encouraged to make data and materials supporting their findings available where ethically, legally and practically possible. Data should be appropriately cited and described, and any restrictions on data access should be explained in a data availability statement. Authors should provide sufficient methodological detail to support reproducibility of the reported work.

Competing Interests, Funding and Ethics

All authors, reviewers and editors should disclose any competing interests that could influence the research or editorial decision-making. Authors should state relevant funding sources and comply with applicable ethical requirements, including ethical approval where required. Research involving human participants, sensitive data must follow relevant ethical standards and institutional requirements. Anti-Plagiarism testing will be carried out.
