Focus and Scope

Scope of the Journal

  1. Clinical Practice: The scope of the journal holds various aspects of clinical practice in general medicine and emergency care, including diagnosis, treatment, management, and follow-up of common and rare medical conditions.
  2. Emergency Medicine: Specifically, the journal covers topics related to emergency medicine, such as trauma management, resuscitation, acute care, disaster response, and pre-hospital care.
  3. Primary Care: Given its focus on general practice, the journal also addresses issues related to primary care, preventive medicine, chronic disease management, health promotion, and patient-centred care.
  4. Research Areas: The scope includes original research across a range of topics, including epidemiology, clinical trials, health services research, medical education, quality improvement, and healthcare delivery in resource-limited settings.
  5. Interdisciplinary Approach: The journal encourages submissions from various disciplines related to general practice and emergency medicine, including internal medicine, surgery (all aspects), gynaecology and obstetrics, paediatrics, emergency nursing, paramedicine, public health, health systems research, and other relevant fields.

Aims/ Objectives of the Journal

  1. Dissemination of Knowledge: The primary objective is to disseminate knowledge and research findings relevant to General Practice and Emergency Medicine, in Nepal and globally.
  2. Promotion of Best Practices: The journal aims to promote evidence-based practices in General Practice and Emergency Medicine, including clinical care, diagnostic techniques, treatment protocols, and patient management.
  3. Education and Training: The journal aims to contribute to the education and training of healthcare professionals, including general practitioners, emergency physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals working in Nepal and around the globe.
  4. Research Advancement: By publishing original research articles, review papers, case reports, and other scholarly works, the journal aims to advance the fields of general practice and emergency medicine in Nepal and beyond.
  5. Community Engagement: This initiative aims to engage with the healthcare community in Nepal, including clinicians, researchers, policymakers, and public health officials, to address local health challenges and enhance patient care.

Publication Frequency

Journal of General Practice and Emergency Medicine of Nepal is published biannually.

Open Access Policy

Journal of General Practice and Emergency Medicine of Nepal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Articles in the journal are published under a Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial 4.0 International Licence. This license enables reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format for noncommercial purposes only, and only so long as attribution is given to the creator.

Publication Charge Policy

All the publication services provided by JGPEMN are free of charge. There is no charge for submission of an article, article processing, or publication. Author/s only need to register and log in to the journal's web portal before submission, which is also without any charge.

Copyright Policy

Authors who publish with the Journal of General Practice and Emergency Medicine of Nepal agree to the following terms:

  1. Copyright Retention and Licensing
    Authors retain copyright of their work and grant the journal the right of first publication. 
  2. Non-Exclusive Distribution Rights
    Authors may enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal’s published version of the work (e.g., posting to institutional repositories or including it in a book), provided that the original publication in JGPEMN is acknowledged. In such situations, authors should notify the journal/editor-in-chief.
  3. Self-Archiving Policy
    Authors are encouraged to post their published work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or personal websites). This supports early dissemination, scholarly exchange, and increased citation of published work.

Conflict of Interest

Not only authors, but peer reviewers, editors, and editorial staff should disclose any potential conflict of interest related to the article and the publishing process. If there is any conflict of interest then please submit the disclosure as given by ICMJE.

For any concern or complaint regarding publication misconduct or any other issues, please email us at editor@jgpemn.org.np with your contact details. The journal team will take appropriate action on the concerns or complaints. The privacy of the complainant will be maintained unless required by some legal action.

Funding

GPEMAN is funding all the expenses of this journal.

Archiving Policy

We are currently operating exclusively online, with no print versions available. The journal intends to archive the published articles in both national and international repositories. At present, we are utilizing the LOCKSS system provided by our server for content archiving. Libraries are permitted to archive and distribute the journal’s content in compliance with the journal's copyright policy.

Publisher

JGPEMN is a biannual journal published by the General Practice and Emergency Medicine Association of Nepal (GPEMAN). It started publishing articles in 2010 A.D.
