About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Journal of Engineering and Sciences (JES), the official journal of the Research Management Cell (RMC), Pashchimanchal Campus, Pokhara, is devoted exclusively to science and technology advancements, especially the innovative aspects of the multifaceted disciplines of engineering and sciences.

JES welcomes manuscripts presenting information not previously published in journals on any aspect of interdisciplinary (science and engineering) research, development, application, measurement, or policy. The submitted manuscripts may be reports of original studies or reviews of significant prior work in a given area. All manuscripts are subject to reviews to assure accuracy, clarity, and long-term value.

The scope of the journal lies in but is not limited to the contents and capacity of Science, Technology, and Engineering. It publishes research articles with novel synthesis, findings, and scientific advances; review articles with an overview of recent thinking and achievements in a given theme; and communications with clear messages aimed at conflict resolution in a given topic. The journal embraces statistically analyzed data-based scientific outcomes, recent trends in engineering technology, and cutting-edge principles of current science and technology advancements. The journal welcomes articles with notable contributions to acquiring knowledge and its measurable exposition.

Publication Frequency

JES publishes two issues per year: the first on May 30 and the second on November 30.

Peer Review Process and Reviewers Guidelines

All submitted manuscripts in the Journal of Engineering and Sciences (JES) undergo a thorough peer-review process. JES follows a single-blind review process. Initially, the chief editor screens the submissions to ensure they align with the journal's scope and are plagiarism-free. The manuscripts then undergo review by section editors to ensure their appropriateness. This screening process typically takes 7 to 10 days. Subsequently, only the suitable articles are forwarded to the reviewer(s), who may be local or international experts, for content evaluation. Generally, the decision to accept or reject a manuscript is based on the reviewers' reports.

The review process typically takes 2-5 weeks. After receiving reviewer feedback, authors have up to 10 days to make revisions. We aim to complete the acceptance and publication process for articles submitted to JES in 8 weeks. Still, this timeline depends on how quickly reviewers respond and how long authors take to revise.

The guidelines for reviewing articles are provided to the reviewers, which helps them be more specific in their review reports. If an invited reviewer feels they cannot evaluate the work presented in an article or anticipates difficulty providing a timely review. In that case, they should notify the editors as soon as possible and decline the offer to review so that other reviewers can be invited. Reviewers who agree to review the article must submit their report within 15 days. Gentle reminders are sent to reviewers if the report is not received within the deadline.

Publication Ethics

JES is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of publishing ethics and preventing any form of publication malpractice. This pertains to the ethical standards and principles that authors, editors, reviewers, and the editorial board must follow to safeguard the integrity and quality of published research.
