About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Far Western Journal of Education (FWJE) is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal published annually by the Faculty of Education, Far Western University, Nepal. The primary goal of this journal is to contribute to the process of knowledge development and its dissemination in the field of education by providing a platform for scholarly discussions about the role of education in improving human capabilities and overall well-being along with developing academic environment in the Faculty, University and Global context as well.

To achieve this objective, the journal publishes original research, reviews, and other scholarly works that have academic value and contribute to our understanding of education and its various aspects like curriculum, testing, pedagogy, teaching-learning, psychology, assessments, leadership, planning, etc. The journal encourages both localized analysis and comparative perspectives and welcomes papers that take an integrated approach, considering education within local, national, regional, and global contexts. The publication includes full-length research papers, review articles and book/document reviews based on Journal's format.

Open Access Policy

Far Western Journal of Education provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Articles in FWJE are published under a Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial 4.0 International Licence (CC BY-NC). This license enables reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format for noncommercial purposes only, and only so long as attribution is given to the creator. 

Article Processing Charges

Authors will not be charged an Article Processing Charge (APC).

Cost of Hard Copies

The readers who are interested to have the journal's printed copy will have to pay Rs. 250 to get the hard copy. This amount will cover the printing charge of the journal and make the publication of the journal sustainable. Rights regarding the charge of the hard copy will be reserved in publisher (Faculty of Education, Far Western University) and may subjected to change as necessity.

Peer Review Process

During the peer-review process, all submitted research papers are first examined by the Editor-in-Chief/Editors to ensure they meet the journal's theme and general format. Manuscripts that pass this initial screening are then checked for plagiarism. Papers with a similarity index below 20 percent, as adopted by the journal, proceed to the review process.

This journal operates a double-blind peer review process. All submissions are initially assessed by the Editor-in-Chief/Editor(s) for suitability. Papers deemed suitable are typically sent to two (generally) independent expert reviewers to evaluate their quality. The initial review and correction by the author(s) usually take about two months. The Editorial Board/Editor-in-Chief is responsible for making the final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of articles based on reviewers' comments.

Editors do not participate in the review or decision-making process for papers they have written or submitted themselves. Such submissions undergo the journal's usual procedures, with peer review handled independently of the relevant editor and their research groups.

Publisher and Sources of Support

Far Western Journal of Education (FWJE) is published by Faculty of Education, Far Western University, Mahendranagar, Nepal. This is a Government University, so the main source for the publication is institutional fund of Faculty of Education. Journal printing cost is managed by the price of hard copy of the journal.
