About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Journal of Technology Research and Review aims to create and sustain informed discussion of critical issues on technology development, dissemination, application and use.

The journal will publish original contributions (in the forms of research article, commentary, discussion note, and work-in-progress note) that deal with critical issues related to technology research and use, particularly in the poor societies all over the world. The term technology encompasses all the 17 subclasses within the “Technology" category in the Library of Congress classification scheme (http://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/lcco/lcco_t.pdf). Authors are urged to be familiar with the list as they consider developing contributions for this journal. In addition, JTRR is keen on manuscripts that provide

  • thoughtful reflections about technology use,
  • critical insights on anthropology, economics, history, philosophy, and sociology of technology,
  • perceptive assessments of technology within society and its relationship to other disciplines, productive analyses of technology policy at local, national, and international levels
  • comparative studies of technology development, transfer, and dissemination, and
  • sober discussions on emerging technologies and technology’s role in shaping the future.

The diversity of technology, along with its applications and significance, requires that authors communicate clearly, concisely, and only semi-technically to our general but intelligent readers. Highly technical articles, studded with obscure jargons and opaque terminologies, on any field of technology are not within the purview of the journal.

Contributions which do not demonstrate sufficient awareness of prior research on the topic will not be of interest to this Journal. Syntheses of developments within a given field of technology are welcome, as are critical appraisals of research regarding a particular technology, its development or use. Research articles that report inadequate rigour in both methodology and analysis will not be published. The JTRR is neutral in regards to qualitative, quantitative, or mixed method approaches to research but expects contributions of high quality.

Publication Frequency

The journal will publish two issues per year, approximately in April and October. However, articles may be published at other times in the Early-View.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
