छुदेन काविमोको उरमाल उपन्यासको सीमान्तीयता {Marginality in Chuden Kabimo’s Urmaal}

Abstract

प्रस्तुत लेख छुदेन काविमोको उरमाल उपन्यासको सीमान्तीयताको विमर्शमा केन्द्रित छ । यस उपन्यासमा डुबर्सको चिया कमानका आदिवासी र नेपाली श्रमिकहरू अनि त्यस सेरोफेरोका विभिन्न आदिवासीहरूको सङ्कटग्रस्त जीवनको त्रासदी निरूपण गरिएको छ । यस लेखको क्षेत्र उपन्यास हो । यसको शोधरिक्त विषय सीमान्तीयता देखिएकाले त्यसैलाई शोध समस्या बनाइएको छ ।  समस्यालाई व्यवस्थित अध्ययन गर्न उपन्यासको सीमान्तीयता के ? किन ? र कसरी ? भन्ने प्राज्ञिक जिज्ञासा निर्माण गरी तिनको उपन्याससङ्गत विमर्श गर्नु यसको उद्देश्य बनेको छ । यसक्रममा उपन्यासको सीमान्तीयताको उत्तर खोज्न सीमान्तकृत वर्गमा सङ्गठनको अभाव, प्रभुत्वशाली वर्गको प्रलोभन, सीमान्त वर्गमा देखिएको विभाजन र प्रतिरोधलाई औपन्यासिक साक्ष्यका आधारमा यहाँ क्रमशः विमर्श गरिएको छ । बहुसत्यमा विश्वास गर्ने यो विमर्श गुणात्मक शोधढाँचामा व्यवस्थित छ । यसका लागि प्राथमिक (उरमाल उपन्यास) र द्वितीयक (उपन्यासका पूर्वकार्य र सीमान्तीयताको सिद्धान्त) सामग्री पुस्तकालय स्रोतबाट जुटाइएको छ । सीमान्तकृत वर्गमा सङ्गठनको अभाव, प्रभुत्वशाली वर्गको प्रलोभन र सीमान्त वर्गमा देखिएको विभाजनजस्ता चरहरू यसका तत्त्वमीमांसा हुन् भने सीमान्तीयताको सिद्धान्त र यसको उपन्यास विमर्शमा संश्लेषणको ढाँचा ज्ञानमीमांसा हो । सत्ता र शक्तिको पहुँचबाट किनारीकृत आदिवासी र नेपाली समुदाय यस उपन्यासमा मूलतः सत्तासीनको सनकमा परेर सन्त्रास र अनिश्चितताको सकसमा बाँच्नु परेको छ । असङ्गठित उनीहरूले आफ्नो सकसको प्रतिरोध गर्न खोज्दा प्रभुत्वशाली वर्गले अनेक प्रलोभन देखाई उनीहरूमै गहिरो शत्रुतापूर्ण विभाजन ल्याइदिएका छन् । यसले अल्पसङ्ख्यक नेपाली समुदायमा जुन अभिघातसहितको त्रासदी सिर्जना गराइएको छ त्यसलाई आकर्षक र मौलिक औपन्यासिक कलाले निरूपण गरिएको निष्कर्ष यस लेखको छ । यसबाट सबाल्टर्न समुदाय असङ्गठित हुँदा उनीहरूलाई सत्तासीनले चरम दुरूपयोग गरी उनीहरूबिचमै आत्मघाती खेल खेलाएर आफ्नो स्वार्थ सुरक्षित गर्छन् भन्ने सन्देश पनि प्रकट भएको छ । {The present paper discusses marginality in Urmaal, a novel by Chuden Kabimo. The novel depicts the tragic life of indigenous communities and Nepali workers of the tea estates of Dubars. The novel is a text for this study. The research gap of this study is marginality. Therefore, the objective of this study is to answer the questions of what, why and how marginality is presented in the novel. This paper discusses the reasons of marginality that include lack of organization in marginalized communities, temptation of dominant groups, and conflict as well as resistance among marginalized groups, which are considered the textual evidences for discussion. Employing qualitative research design, the study considers multiple meanings as an approach. For this purpose, data of primary source (the novel) and secondary sources (literature review and marginality theory) have collected from the library. In this paper, lack of organization in marginalized groups, temptation of dominant groups, and conflict among marginalized groups have been the parameters of philosophical inquiry while the synthesis of marginality theory and discussion of the novel have been the parameters of critical inquiry. Due to the eccentricity of rulers, the indigenous groups and Nepali communities have to live a life of fear and uncertainty. These communities are unorganized who attempt to resist the dominant groups, but they are tempted by the dominant groups. The study concludes that such domination has created tragedy in the lives of marginalized communities, but this tragedy has artistically been presented in the novel. Therefore, the novel has attempted to convey the message to all that when the subalterns remain unorganized, the dominant groups use this situation to fulfil their selfish desire.}
