A Praxis/future-driven Inclusive Science Learning Through STEAM-based Design Thinking Project

Engaging the prospective science teacher in a praxis/future-driven orientation holding transformative STEAM-based design thinking project designing and implementing approach is new in the Nepalese science teacher education program. It could support critically reflecting on- action and in-action for reducing the gap between theory and practice for action. This paper attempted to explore the research question: How could I engage prospective science teachers in a STEAM-based design thinking project for a praxis/future-driven inclusive science learning? So, the transformative action research methodology has been launched in my workplace purposively by selecting eight research participants. I designed and implemented the STEAM-based design thinking project in my science classroom. It motivated my research participants to know this approach's conceptual, theoretical, and practical dimensions by actively participating in critical discourse. I viewed my and my participants' feelings, beliefs, and actions from the theoretical lens of critical-reflexive Bildung, which has the learners' high content and skills development orientation. It helped me to visualize the deep-rooted disempowering forces and the viable alternative ways for action. Moreover, it invited me to change my cultural reproduction-dominated science teaching. This research also envisages a curriculum as a mandala, pedagogy as/for the public good, and assessment as/for learning for praxis/future-driven science classrooms.

An Ethnographic Inquiry of the Reasons and Factors Behind Ayurvedic Healing Practices

Health is a fundamental right of people. The health system is better for the treatment is determined by people’s perceptions by choosing the sources of healing. This paper mainly concerns the patients of Ayurveda and their trust in Ayurveda healing. This paper reveals the reason why patients like to heal with Ayurveda. A qualitative research paradigm has been used to collect data from the grassroots. Case studies and interview methods were used for the interpretation. Nowadays Ayurvedic healing is popular with many people. Also, in pursuit of finding better health care patients used to take healing from Ayurveda as an alternative medicine. From the research, all respondents considered many reasons to select Ayurvedic. Expensive allopathic medicine and many side effects are the major factors for Ayurvedic healing practice at the same time patients believe in fewer side effects of Ayurveda. Now the health care system is guided by a capitalistic school of thought. The healthcare delivery system in many countries, including Nepal is changing.

Analysis of The Effectiveness of Web Portals used in Academic Institutions of Tribhuvan University

For many academic institutions, the website has been used as a tool for inter- and intra-organizational information exchange. Since universities and colleges have started to use their websites as information centers, effective website design and functionality are very important for higher education institutions to attract students and share information regarding academic activities. The researcher observed various web portals based on the technology used, user perspective, and compatibility of some academic institutions observing that many students spent a lot of time on the Internet than in libraries. A checklist is formed to collect data from the websites and explains it in different tables and figures. Thus, the study is designed to provide insights into ICT colleges' websites' effectiveness.

All the websites are based on PHP, mostly WordPress, The use of Bootstrap is quite good, comparatively websites have slow page loading speeds due to the lack of code and image optimization though valid and standardized codes were used. The use of media queries was very impressive but the lack of proper placing of CSS codes made it visually poor on some of the devices. This research explores the effectiveness of portals and websites in academic institutions and some recommendations are made based on the findings.

Analyzing Email Communication Patterns Among Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology Education (BICTE) Students: A Case Study

This study explores the difficult scenery of email communication between undergraduate students enrolled in the Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology Education (BICTE) program within the university. The research explores various facets of email usage, including structure, literacy, and performance, shedding light on the prevalent challenges faced by students in effectively conveying messages. Significant findings encompass issues such as inapt structure, the absence of vital information, empty subjects, casual language, and the tendency to send multiple emails at once. Through the analysis of 175 actual emails exchanged between students and department heads, the study seeks to unravel patterns, trends, and deficiencies in email communication. The identified challenges underscore the importance of enhancing digital literacy and communication skills among BICTE students, addressing the delicate balance between formality and informality in academic emails, and promoting organized correspondence to facilitate a positive and efficient learning environment. The insights gleaned from this research aim to inform strategic improvements in communication training within the BICTE program, ultimately fostering a more effective and professional email communication culture.

Democracy in Nepal: The Status of Inclusive Representation

One of the fundamental tenets of liberal democracy is political representation. In Nepal, ethnopolitics has emerged as one of the most important political debates and issues. The primary causes of the current political environment are the effects of globalization and numerous political upheavals. In the Asian environment in general and Nepal in particular, inclusive democracy is a key contentious political principle. The political and non-political concerns that pertain to inclusive democracy are the main subject of this article. According to the text and a broader perspective, inclusiveness can fight social exclusion.

Lived Experiences of English Teachers who were Initially Taught English in Nepali: Implications for Professional Development Programmes

This research explores the perspectives of current English teachers in Nepal who were initially taught English in Nepali. The study adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis to uncover key factors influencing their preferences and challenges in English language instruction. The research reveals the impact of traditional teaching methods, such as rote learning, on their language proficiency, but also highlights teachers who embrace interactive and student-centered approaches. Challenges in conveying idiomatic expressions and cultural nuances are evident, influenced by prior knowledge of Nepali language structures. The teachers' adaptations include differentiated instruction and experiential learning, emphasizing the importance of continuing professional development. The findings contribute to the development of targeted professional development programmes to enhance English education in Nepal and create a supportive learning environment.

Overview of Cooperative Learning Strategies in Mathematics Teaching and Learning

Policy Implementation: Challenges in Developing Countries like Nepal

Policy formulation is directly associated to policy implementation. Policy implementation is action of plan, program, rules and regulation into real ground. Policy implementation in developing countries is weak policy due to poverty, pseudo agenda, weak state, incomplete cycle, unethical behavior, bureaucratic culture, foreign influence, feudal culture and party conflict. Thus, policy implementation is complex task in developing country like Nepal. There are many issues being raised in developing countries like Nepal for policy implementation. Some people blame the government for not implementing policies whereas government blame opposition parties for blocking the policy implementation.

‘इन्साफ’ उपन्यासमा प्रयुक्त सामाजिक तथा भाषिक सन्दर्भको विश्लेषण

‘इन्साफ’ उपन्यासमा रहेका भाषिक, राजनैतिक तथा लैङ्गिक सन्दर्भको विश्लेषण गर्नु प्रस्तुत लेखको प्रमुख उद्देश्य हो । पुस्तकालयीय अध्ययन कार्यबाट तथ्य सङ्कलन गरी ‘इन्साफ’ उपन्यासलाई प्राथमिक स्रोत तथा सम्बद्ध सैद्धान्तिक पुस्तकहरूलाई द्वितीयक स्रोतका रूपमा लिइएको यस लेखमा वर्णनात्मक विधिको उपयोग गरिएको छ । विश्लेष्य उपन्यासमा प्राचीन समयदेखि पुरुषले स्त्रीमाथि शासन गर्दै आएका र प्रजातन्त्र प्राप्ति पछि तथा चेतनाको विकासका कारणले स्त्रीहरू सशक्त एवम् चेतनशील बनेको कुरा औल्याइएको छ । त्यस्तै, पुरुषहरूमा पनि स्त्रीलाई सहयात्रीको रूपमा स्वीकार गर्ने, उनीहरूलाई समान हैसियत प्रदान गर्नुपर्ने, उनीहरूका विचारहरूलाई सम्मान तथा स्वीकार गर्नुपर्ने आवश्यकता रहेको जनाइएको छ । उपन्यासमा घर व्यवहार, आर्थिक उपार्जन, सामाजिक सहभागिता जस्ता पक्षमा स्त्रीलाई समान हैसियत तथा सम्मान आवश्यक रहेको कुरा प्रस्तुत गर्दै कानुन र अधिकार व्यवस्थामा स्त्रीलाई मात्र केन्द्रबिन्दु बनाउने र पुरुषलाई पूर्णतः उपेक्षा वा बेवास्ता गर्नुलाई पात्रका माध्यमबाट नकारात्मक कार्यका रूपमा चिनाइएको छ । लैङ्गिक हिसाबले घर, समाज तथा कानुनबाट सन्तुलित भूमिका उपलब्ध गराउँदा मात्र ‘इन्साफ’ हुने जनाइएको छ । त्यसैगरी उपन्यासमा २००७ साल कालीन राजनैतिक परिवर्तन, त्यो परिवर्तन पश्चात् उत्पन्न शासनसत्ता सञ्चालन परिपाटी, मन्त्री बन्ने र अर्थहीन समय व्यतित गर्ने तथा राष्ट्रको सम्पत्तिलाई समाप्त पार्ने कार्य अगाडि जस्तै निरन्तर चलिरहेको अवस्थाप्रति लक्षित गरेका छन् । सामाजिक सुधार र जनतामा प्रगति हुनुको साटो विभिन्न पार्टीका झन्डा बोकेर समय र श्रम खेर फाल्ने परिपाटी चलेको अवस्थाप्रति व्यङ्ग्य गरिएको छ । त्यस्तै, उपन्यासमा भाषिक विचलन तथा समानान्तरताका सार्थक प्रयोग गरिएको देखिन्छ । यथेष्ट उखान टुक्काको प्रयोगले कृति प्रभावकारी बनेको पाइन्छ । कृतिभित्रको भाषामा थप आकर्षण र प्रभाव थप्नका लागि यथेष्ट आर्थी विचलनको प्रयोग गरिएको पाइन्छ । त्यस्तै, बाह्य समानान्तरताको प्रयोगबाट कृति गेयात्मक र आकर्षक बनेको देखिन्छ । यसरी नेपाली समाजको वास्तविकता उद्घाटन गर्दै आकर्षक भाषाको उपयोग गरी कृतिलाई मर्मस्पर्शी र प्रभावकारी बनाउन उपन्यासकार सफल रहेको देखिन्छ ।

एटलान्टिक स्ट्रिट उपन्यासमा विचलन

एटलान्टिक स्ट्रिट उपन्यासको अध्ययनमा आधारित रहेको छ । यस लेखमा साहित्यकार जनार्दन पुडासैनी ‘राजव’ द्वारा लिखत एटलान्टिक स्ट्रिट उपन्यासलाई शैलीवैज्ञानिक दृष्टिले अध्ययन विश्लेषण गरिएको छ । यसको मुख्य उद्देश्य एटलान्टिक स्ट्रिट उपन्यासमा व्यवहृत विचलनको अध्ययन गर्नु रहेको छ भने यसका अन्य उद्देश्यहरूमा उक्त उपन्यासमा निहित प्राथमिक–द्वितीयक र तृतीयक विचलनको अन्वेषण गर्नु, आन्तरिक र बाह्य विचलन पत्ता लगाउनु, ध्वनितात्विक, कोशीय, व्याकरणिक, अर्थतात्विक, भाषिकागत, लेखप्रक्रियात्मक, प्रयुक्ति, सान्निध्य, सङ्कथन र ऐतिहासिक समयको विचलनका दृष्टिले उपन्यासको समीक्षण गर्नु रहेका छन् । यस लेखमा निर्दिष्ट उपन्यासमा प्रयुक्त विचलनको अध्ययन विश्लेषणार्थ स्वदेशी तथा विदेशी विद्वान्हरूद्वारा प्रस्तुत विचलनसम्बन्धी सैद्धान्तिक अवधारणाको अनुप्रयोग गरिएको छ । यस क्रममा लिच (सन् २०१३), वेल्स (सन् २००१), ग्रिगोरिउ (सन् २०१४), बर्क एन्ड इभर्स (सन् २०१४) लगायतका भाषावैज्ञानिकहरूका दृष्टिकोणको अधिकाधिक उपयोग गरिएको छ । प्रस्तुत लेख गुणात्मक अध्ययन विधिमा आधारित रही तयार पारिएको छ । यसमा एटलान्टिक स्ट्रिट उपन्यासमा ११ प्रकारका विचलनको प्रयोग गरिएको, चार प्रकारका विचलनको प्रयोग नगरिएको, उपन्यासमा व्यवहृत विचलनका मााध्यमबाट औपन्यासिक सौन्दर्य अभिवृद्धिमा सहयोग पुगेको लगायतका निष्कर्ष प्रस्तुत गरिएको छ । यसबाट एटलान्टिक स्ट्रिट उपन्यासमा निहित विचलनबारे जानकारी अधिगत गर्न सघाउ पुग्ने अपेक्षा गरिएको छ । साथै शैलीविज्ञानका क्षेत्रमा क्रियाशील एवम् रुचिकर सबैलाई यो उपयोगी हुने ठानिएको छ ।

पाठ्यक्रम अनुरूपताका आधारमा कक्षा नौको नेपाली भाषापाठ्यपुस्तकको विश्लेषण

प्रस्तुत लेख कक्षा नौको नेपाली भाषापाठ्यपुस्तकको अध्ययन विश्लेषणसँग सम्बन्धित रहेको छ । यसमा परिवर्तित पाठ्यक्रम २०७८ का आधारमा तयार पारिएको माध्यमिक तहअन्तर्गत कक्षा नौको भाषापाठ्यपुस्तक वि.सं. २०७८ भाषापाठ्यक्रम अनुरूपताको आधारमा के कस्तो छ भनी समीक्षण गरिएको छ । प्रस्तुत लेखको उद्देश्य पाठ्यक्रम अनुरूपताका आधारमा कक्षा नौको नेपाली भाषापाठ्यपुस्तकको विश्लेषण गर्नु रहेको छ । प्रस्तुत लेखमा गुणात्मक अनुसन्धान ढाँचाको प्रयोग गरिएको छ । यसमा मूलतः पुस्तकालयीय कार्यका माध्यमबाट सामग्रीहरु सङ्कलन गरिएको छ । यसमा वर्णनात्मक अनुसन्धान विधि अवलम्वन गरी उक्त पाठ्यपुस्तकको विश्लेषण गरिएको छ । प्रस्तुत लेखमा तहगत सक्षमता, कक्षागत सिकाइ उपलब्धि, विधाको क्षेत्र, तथा क्रम र विस्तृतीकरण, सिकाइ सहजीकरण प्रक्रिया र मूल्याङ्कन प्रक्रियाका आधारमा कक्षा नौको नेपाली भाषापाठ्यपुस्तक के कस्तो रहेको छ भनी त्यसको विश्लेषण गरिएको छ । यस लेखमा निर्दिष्ट पुस्तक भाषापाठ्यक्रमअनुरुप तयार पारिएको, पाठ्यक्रमले अपेक्षा गरेका कुराहरु प्राप्तितर्फ पाठ्यपुस्तक प्रवृत्त रहेकोे, निर्दिष्ट कक्षाको पूर्ववर्ती पाठ्यपुस्तकका तुलनामा यसलाई बढी व्यावहारिक तथा कार्यकलापमूखी बनाइएको तथा उक्तपुस्तकहरुमा देखिएका कसरमसर हटाउने प्रयत्न गरिएको कुराहरुलाई निष्कर्षका रूपमा प्रस्तुत गरिएको छ । प्रस्तुत लेखले सम्बन्धित क्षेत्रमा अध्ययन, अनुसन्धान गर्न चाहने तथा यस विषय क्षेत्रप्रति रुचि राख्ने सरोकारवाला सम्पूर्णमा अपेक्षित सहयोग पु¥याउने विश्वास गरिएको छ ।

माध्यमिक तहमा अध्ययनरत विद्यार्थीहरूको वर्णविन्यासगत क्षमता

प्रस्तुत आलेख माध्यमिक तहमा अध्ययनरत विद्यार्थीहरूको वर्णविन्यास क्षमतासँग सम्बन्धित छ । यस अध्ययनको प्रमुख उद्देश्य कक्षा नौमा अध्ययनरत विद्यार्थीहरूको वर्णविन्यास क्षमताको पहिचान गर्नु र भाषिक पृष्ठभूमिका आधारमा विद्यार्थीहरूको वर्णविन्यास क्षमताको विश्लेषण गर्नु रहेको छ । यस लेखको तयारीका क्रममा परिमाणात्मक अनुसन्धान ढाँचाको प्रयोग गरिएको छ । प्राथमिक र द्वितीयक स्रोतबाट सामग्री सङ्कलन गरी अध्ययन पूरा गरिएको छ । कक्षा नौको नेपाली पाठ्यपुस्तकमा समावेश भएका शब्दहरू छनोट गरी नेपाली भाषी र नेपाली इतरभाषी गरी चार विद्यालयका जम्मा ४० जना विद्यार्थीमा निर्मित प्रश्नावली परीक्षण गरी प्राप्त तथ्याङ्कको विश्लेषण गरिएको छ । वर्णविन्यासको क्षेत्रमा सबैभन्दा बढी त्रुटि ह्रस्वमा भन्दा दीर्घमा गरेको पाइयो । चन्द्रविन्दुको प्रयोगमा पनि पनि धेरै त्रुटि गरेकोे पाइयो । धेरै विद्यार्थीहरूले हलन्तका ठाउँमा अजन्त र अजन्तको ठाउँमा हलन्त प्रयोग गरेर त्रुटि गरेको पाइयो । नेपाली इतरभाषीभन्दा नेपाली भाषी विद्यार्थीहरूको वर्णविन्यासगत प्रयोग क्षमता बढी रहेको पाइयो । प्रस्तुत लेखले निर्दिष्ट विषय क्षेत्रमा अध्ययन, अनुसन्धान गर्न चाहने तथा भाषा शिक्षणको प्रायोगिक क्षेत्रमा सरोकार राख्नेहरूलाई नीतिगत तथा प्रयोगात्मक तहमा सहयोग पु¥याउने विश्वास गरिएको छ ।

भाषा शिक्षणमा सूचना प्रविधि प्रयोग

प्रस्तुत लेख नेपाली भाषा शिक्षणमा सूचना प्रविधिको प्रयोगसँग सम्बन्धित रहेको छ । यस लेखका उद्देश्य सूचना प्रविधिको परिचय दिनु, भाया शिक्षणमा यसको प्रयोगको महत्व दर्शाउनु, यसका उपयोगिता तथा प्रयोग तरिका अनुरेखाङ्कन गर्नु रहेको छन् । प्रस्तुत लेखमा गुणात्मक अनुसन्धान ढाँचाको प्रयोग गरिएको छ । यस क्रममा मूलतः पुस्तकालयीय स्रोतबाट सामग्रीहरु सङ्कलन गरिएको छ । यसमा वर्णनात्मक अनुसन्धान विधि अपनाई प्राप्त सामग्रीहरुको व्याख्या तथा विश्लेषण गरिएको छ । यसबाट सबै विद्यालयमा विद्युतको पहुँच पुर्याउने, इन्टरनेटको पहुँच सबैतिर विस्तार गर्ने, व्यवस्थित कम्प्युटर प्रयोगशालाको निर्माण गर्ने, शिक्षकलाई प्रविधि प्रयोग सम्बन्धी पर्याप्त तालिम दिने, शिक्षकले प्रविधि प्रयोग गर्न सक्ने गरी कार्य प्रारम्भ गर्ने जस्ता कार्य गर्दा यसको प्रयोगगत प्रभावकारिता बढ्ने निष्कर्ष निकालिएको छ । प्रस्तुत लेखले सम्बन्धित क्षेत्रमा अध्ययन, अनुसन्धान गर्न चाहने तथा यस विषय क्षेत्रप्रति रुचि राख्ने सरोकारवाला सम्पूर्णमा अपेक्षित सहयोग पु¥याउने विश्वास गरिएको छ ।
