About the Journal

The Curriculum Development Journal (CDJ) is a peer-reviewed, open-access publication of the Curriculum Development Centre, Tribhuvan University, established in 1992. While rooted in the academic excellence of Nepal's oldest university, the journal actively welcomes international perspectives that advance higher education, innovative pedagogy, and transformative curriculum design. As an open-access platform, CDJ is committed to the democratization of knowledge, providing scholars, policymakers, and practitioners with unrestricted access to critical research.

Aims and Scope

Our primary mission is to facilitate a high-level academic exchange among scholars, educators, and policymakers by disseminating rigorous research that addresses the complexities of the modern educational landscape. We aim to bridge the gap between theoretical curriculum frameworks and classroom implementation, providing evidence-based insights that inform sustainable educational reform. The journal welcomes original bilingual research in English or Nepali that explores innovative pedagogy, curriculum design, educational leadership, and assessment strategies.

Ethical Considerations and Guidelines

Research Integrity and Publication Ethics: CDJ adheres to the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All stakeholders (authors, editors, and reviewers) are expected to adhere to these ethical principles.

  • Authorship: Must be limited to those who made significant contributions. A formal "Author Contribution Statement" is required.
  • Authority: The Editorial Board has the full authority to reject/accept an article, request revisions, and ensure the integrity of the publication record. The final decision for publication rests with the editor, based on the review reports and editorial policies.
  • Plagiarism Policy: All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using Turnitin/iThenticate before review. CDJ maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism, including self-plagiarism and redundant publication. Furthermore, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate content without proper attribution or declaration constitutes academic misconduct. The editorial board may set the specific thresholds.
  • Ethics Approval: Research involving human participants must state that informed consent was obtained and provide the name of the institutional ethics committee that approved the study.
  • Reporting Standards: The results of the original research work of the authors should provide an accurate account of the work with a clear discussion of its implications.
  • Conflicts of Interest: The authors must disclose a potential conflict of interest for all submissions and relationships with others on the title page.
  • Data Transparency: Authors may be requested to provide raw data for editorial review to ensure the validity of the results.
  • Critical Errors in Published Works: If an author or reader finds a critical error or inaccuracy in the published work, it is the author's responsibility to promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate with them to either correct the paper via a corrigendum or retract it if necessary.
  • Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication: Authors should not submit/publish the same research, idea, concept, or papers in more than one journal or primary publication. These contents include a publication in the form of an abstract, an academic dissertation, a conference proceeding, and an electronic preprint.

Peer Review & Editorial Process

Peer Review Process: CDJ employs a Double-Blind Peer Review process. The identity of both the author and the reviewer is concealed throughout the evaluation.

  1. Initial Screening: The managing editor evaluates the manuscript for scope and technical standards. Manuscripts passing the initial screen are checked for originality (Similarity and AI).
  2. Expert Review: Manuscripts are sent to at least two independent reviewers.
  3. Revision & Response: Authors must provide a point-by-point response to reviewer comments.
  4. Final Decision: The Chief Editor makes the final decision (Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject).

Publication Process

Upon acceptance, corresponding authors will receive a galley proof (PDF) of their article. This is the final opportunity to correct minor typographical errors. No significant changes to the content or authorship are permitted at this stage. Articles are assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) and are permanently archived on the NepJOL platform and the Tribhuvan University Central Library system.
